LETTER: Thankful for helpful neighbors

While I was driving in Elk Creek last week, I experienced what us do-it-yourselfers call a “construction materials mishap”.

This happened on 155 as I was slowing to turn on to Normandy Road, and some boards I was carrying shifted and slid into the roadway.

Needless to say, it was a very embarrassing situation on a busy Friday morning, right in front of the new Dollar General store.

I appreciated all who stopped and waited and asked if they could help while the mess was cleared.

I especially wanted to thank the two young men that helped me pull the lumber out of the roadway so traffic could pass and thank their mother (who was in their van) for raising such fine young men.

This neighborliness is what makes Spencer county such a great place to live and work.

Thanks again.
