The intent of an airport in Spencer County was not what you think Woodie. The intent of the airport, as I was told, was to bring some companies to Spencer County, bring companies to service the airport, repair aviation instruments, possibly a small aircraft airframe and power unit repair center.
As I understand, the airport was for small aircraft to locate here in order to get out of Jefferson County’s expensive costs – not for commercial daily flights. There would be flights in to pickup and deliver instruments for repair and planes coming in for repairs. How many is anyone’s guess, but it would have been business, jobs and money from taxes coming into the county.
As it is the NOT IN MY COUNTY minority group finally discouraged the committee trying to help the county by bringing in money. The NOT IN MY COUNTY group tried to stop the county from becoming wet and I am glad that didn’t happen. I, for one, am glad you borrowed money to try to stop progress and it’s a shame it wasn’t $40,000 or more you borrowed. Your money would have been better spent to try to develop Spencer County rather than trying to keep it in the past.
As the county adds residents it needs more money to maintain the infrastructure and if a minority keeps the county from gaining ways to grow business and improve business, jobs and tax income, we are doomed to pay more property taxes and any other tax they can think of to provide the money needed to run the county.
Nothing is free and everything has a cost. Rather than being a rebel rouser and anti-growth we should strive to search for ways to improve our county and it’s business chances.
By the way Woodie, I won’t be voting for you as my magistrate, you’re a regressive not progressive.
