The Spencer County Public Library invites the community to its Adult Summer Reading Open House on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.
“Enjoy coffee and pastries while talking about your recent reading adventures,” organizers said. “Prizes for the Book Bingo will be awarded. Stop in even if you didn’t enter the contest we’d love to see you.”
Other upcoming events (with descriptions provided by the library):
•Free computer classes — Excel Basics will be today from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and Word Basics will be Wednesday, Aug. 22, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. These are both beginner classes.
•Children’s Story Time — Starts Tuesday. Learn basic concepts and have fun. Story Time is a great way to expose your child to new friends, songs and stories. When school is in session, we meet Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and again Tuesday night at 6:30.
•Kentucky Author, traveler, teacher and translator Normandi Ellis resurrects the mystery of ancient Egypt in her books “Awakening Osiris” and “Dreams of Isis.” Join her as she discusses her journey from the Kentucky River and down the Nile on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 6 p.m.
•Teen Night at the Library — Starts Aug. 30 with game night. Tired of sitting at home texting? Get out and see your friends or make new ones at the library. Need an outlet for your creativity or just looking for something to do, stop in the second Thursday of the month, “Make it, Take it” is at 6:30. Game Night is the last Thursday of the month at 6:30. Whether you’re competitive or just out for fun there is a game for everyone.
Spencer County Public Library is located at 168 Taylorsville Road. All programs are free, open to the public, and accessible to those with disabilities.
