-A A +A

By: Mollie Tichenor, CEA 4-H Extension Agent

The State 4-H Livestock Judging Contest was Tuesday, June 18, at the Muhlenberg County Ag Center in Powderly. Spencer County had eight participants in the contest.  Connie Jeffiers, livestock leader and coach, did a great job at coaching and motivating all of the team members. The awards were June 19 in Muhlenberg County at a local church.
The Clover Team, consisting of Casey Montgomery, Sydney Warren and Dillon Stallings had an amazing contest. In Goat Evaluation, Casey Montgomery was 13th, Sydney Warren was 19th, and Dillon Stallings was 25th individually. The Clover Team was fifth in goats.
In Sheep Evaluation, Sydney Warren was fourth individually and the team was fifth.
In Swine, Dillon Stallings was third, Sydney Warren was fourth and Casey Montgomery was 20th. As a team, they were first place in the state.
In Beef, Dillon Stallings was 10th and Sydney Warren was 24th.  As a team they were eighth in Beef Evaluation.
In Reasons/Non-Traditional Questions, Dillon Stallings was ninth, Sydney Warren was 12th, Casey Montgomery was 17th, and as a team they were second.
As individuals overall, Sydney Warren was eighth, Dillon Stallings was 16th, and Casey Montgomery was 31st in the state. As a team, the Clovers were fourth overall.
Everyone involved is very proud of the Clover Team!
Unfortunately, we did not have an Intermediate Team from Spencer County this year, but Dalton Stallings competed as an individual and did an awesome job. Dalton was sixth in goats, ninth in swine, and 13th overall as an individual.
The Senior Team had a lot of fun at the state contest. Ashley Montgomery, Courtney Jeffiers, Darilyn Browning and Morgan Mayer made up the Senior Team. Darilyn Browning was 23rd in Goats and the Senior Team was sixth.
In Sheep, Darilyn Browning was 15th, Ashley Montgomery was 24th, and the team was fifth.
In the Swine Division, the Senior Team was ninth.
In Beef, Courtney Jeffiers was 21st and the team was eighth.
In Reason and Questions, Morgan Mayer was 18th and the team was sixth.
The Senior Team ended up ninth overall for the contest. Great job, girls.
Congratulations to all of the Livestock Judging Team members and Coach Connie Jeffiers.
