For two Spencer County Youth, their dreams came true last week just outside Athens, GA.  Nathan Conard and Dalton Jones have been teammates and opponents for the last 4 years at Jeffersontown Youth Baseball.  They were able to join sides once again to participate on the 11- year-old all-star team which represented the city of Jeffersontown and the state of Kentucky at the 2009 Dizzy Dean World Series in Jackson County Georgia.

The World Series lasted 6 days and consisted of 35 teams from states all around the Southeast in a double elimination showdown.  Jeffersontown took top honors by winning the World Series with a perfect 7-0 record by defeating their opposition by a total of 92-31 runs.

Nathan Conard opened up the tournament with 3 strike outs in a short 3 inning 17-1 victory over Gardendale, AL.  Conard picked up another win against Fossil Park, FL 11-3.  Conard wrapped up the championship game by coming into the 3rd inning in relief and giving up only two runs in a 16-6 victory over Northport, Al (Nationals).

Dalton Jones’ big victory came when he pitched in the semi-final game against Tallahassee, FL to advance the team to the championship round.  Jones’ most noticeable accomplishment was being honored as the tournament Most Valuable Player with a staggering 5 home runs, one of which was a grand slam.
