Spencer County’s 4-H Shooting Sports Club was right on target at this year’s 4-H State Shooting Sports Competition winning several awards. This two-day competition was at the Bluegrass Sportsman’s Club in Wilmore on Saturday, Sept. 15, and at the Kentucky Wildlife Management Center in Berea on Sunday, Sept. 16.  Spencer County 4-H had 17 members to compete in state this year.
On Saturday at state, the 4-Her’s did an outstanding job. In the 12-14 Archery Bare, Patrick Rood tied for sixth and Makayla Trapp tied for seventh.  In the 9-11 Archery Recurve, Rivers Culwell-Hood placed eighth and Conner Trapp was 11th.  In the 12-14 Archery Recurve, Makayla Trapp tied for third and Patrick Rood tied for fourth. In the 12-14 Archery Target, Ben Drury tied for fourth.
Sunday was another successful day for Spencer County 4-H at the State Trap Shoot. In the 12-14 Trap Division, Thomas Sageser took home the top honor of first and received a trophy. Dalton Stallings also tied for third in this age division. In the 15-18 age division, Amanda Rood tied for third (she has a perfect second 25) and Joey Webster tied for fifth.
State was a huge success and would not have been possible without the coordinator, Tim Brewer, all the coaches, and families that support our local youth.  Congratulations to Thomas Sageser on his first place win and to all of the other members for their accomplishments at state this year.
