And, it was the first time we experienced what it feels like to pay $4 for a gallon of gas. Oh, and remember there was that time when the stock marked dropped 777 points and we all felt for the first time what it’s like to lose our retirement savings. As we stopped spending, we witnessed another first as the federal government stepped in with an inconceivable $700 billion bailout for the banks and businesses we no longer frequented.
