Taylorsville voters will have a chance to get their questions answered by candidates running for City Commission this fall as The Spencer Magnet partners with the Taylorsville-Spencer County Chamber of Commerce to host a candidate forum on Oct. 25.
The forum will take place at the Chamber building on Main Street from 6 to 8 p.m.
The six candidates for city commissioner — incumbents Kathy Spears and Beverly Ingram, Jack Proctor, Richard Johns, Paul Gaddie and Ellen Redmon — have all been invited to participate in the forum, which will feature your questions.
All six candidates have confirmed their attendance.
The question and answer portion of the forum will last approximately an hour and a half, and other candidates for office — including candidates for county clerk, school board, soil and water conservation district supervisors and state representatives — are also invited to attend to meet and greet constituents during the last half hour.
To submit questions for consideration, simply email them to Spencer Magnet Editor Shannon Brock, who will moderate the forum, at email@example.com.
Questions must be submitted by noon on Wednesday, Oct. 10, and approximately eight to 10 questions, selected by a combination of Magnet staff and Chamber board members, will be published in the Magnet on Oct. 17.
To preserve an element of surprise, not all of the published questions will be asked during the forum. Questions will be drawn at random in front of the audience during the forum.
Questions should be issue-based and should not single out individual candidates, but rather ask questions that all candidates can answer.
Candidates will be held to strict time limits with their answers in order to keep within time restraints and for fairness.
