Interested in signing your child for Spencer County Middle School band?
According to SCMS band director Taylor Stampfer, studies show that band students have higher GPAs and ACT scores overall than other students. Studies also show that studying music increases reading and math scores as well as help create a well-rounded individual, Stampfer said.
Learning how to play an instrument is a skill that will last a lifetime, and joining band will give students an opportunity to perform, compete, and travel.
The registration for sixth grade band will take place in the SCMS band room on April 24 from 3-7 p.m.
During the registration, students will be allowed to try all instruments while professional musicians help them choose what would be the right fit for them. You can come during any part of this time period. For more information about the award winning SCMS Band, contact Stampfer at taylor.stampfer@spencer.kyschools.us.
Stamper hopes to see new band members in April!
