Taylorsville is blessed to have a unique church the likes of Minor Chapel.

The A.M.E. Church was built around 1895 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The registration form for the little church on Jefferson Street at the east base of the knoll, notes that it is significant in the area of black ethnic history in Taylorsville.

The building has been determined significant as well as the most intact institutional building remaining in Taylorsville to document its black community, which has existed alongside Taylorsville’s white population since the town’s inception.
