Spencer County Lady Bear Mackenzie Myers scored 12 points in the team’s loss to Anderson County on Monday night to bring her career total to 1,001.

Myers joins an exclusive list of players in Spencer County girls’ basketball history — only four others have reached this milestone: Roxanne Stephen (Perry), Kenisha Marshall, Shanna Noel and Brittany Hall.
Myers first joined the varsity team as a seventh-grader and her point production has increased year by year, said Coach David Marion.  She is currently averaging just under 15 points and 10 rebounds a game this season.
“I think it is great that she achieved this milestone, but it is more special that she would rather win than get personal accolades.,” Marion said. “Myers is only a junior, and if all goes well, she could make a run at becoming Spencer County’s all-time leading scorer.”
Less than halfway through her junior year, Myers is 305 points shy of the school record.
