Perilous times

‘This know in the last days perilous times shall come.” -2 Timothy 3:1.

As we look at our nation and around the world we have to say we are living in perilous times.

Our President proposed to set up abortion clinics around the world, and the speaker of the house called it birth control. Now the President and Congress are working on repealing the ‘No ask, no tell” policy for homosexuals in our armed forces. It seems like every ungodly thing in the world is what we want to do.

We lay all the blame on our government, but really they are not the blame. Our churches are mostly the blame, because the churches of Jesus Christ have failed and in doing so our homes have failed, and our schools have failed.

By this time you might be asking yourselves what is he talking about? To answer that question; the government, the church, the home, and the school are governed by, we, the people.

Now, let’s examine our life. What is most important to us? If we answer anything except Jesus Christ, that is the reason why everything has failed.

I know we preachers sometime preach about tithing our money, but do we preach about tithing our time. God would rather have our time than our money. Can we sit around and watch our neighbor die and go to hell and do nothing about it.

“Yea, a man may say, thou hast faith, and I have works; show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God, thou doest well, the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, 0 vain man that faith without works is dead...For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” James 2: 18-20,26.

I heard a preacher say when he was preaching a hell fire sermon, that he believed some people were trying to get into heaven by the skin of their teeth. What if you miss it by the skin of your teeth! The amazing thing about going to heaven, we have the Bible as a road map, but so many don’t want to know how to follow it.

We have many reasons not to follow Jesus: pride, prestige, power, and money, just to mention a few. However, when we stand at the judgment seat of Jesus Christ, we will be glad we put him first over everything in this world.

“Enter ye in at the straight gate; for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat. Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are raving wolves.” Matthew 7: 13-15.

Remember we have preachers today that preach that there is another way to God except through Jesus Christ and even preach that non-Christians can go to heaven. Us, Lord of my life Christians, believe the only way to God and to heaven is through Jesus Christ.
