Rep. Brad Montell, R-Shelbyville (58th District), applauded Shane Greenwell of the Spencer County Future Farmers of America for being named one of 10 national winners in the FFA’s Agri-Entrepreneurship Contest sponsored by the USDA Rural Development.
Rep. Montell joined other members of the Interim Joint Committee on Agriculture in recognizing Greenwell for his award.
“Kentucky stands on the cusp of being a global leader in rural agricultural development and agri-entrepreneurship,” said Montell. “We need young farmers like Shane to help us achieve our goal of becoming a future leader in new forms of agriculture. I applaud and commend him on being named an FFA National Winner, and support his continued efforts to grow Kentucky’s agricultural economy.”
For being named a national winner, Greenwell received $1,000 to expand and grow his business, and an additional $500 to promote entrepreneurship in his community.
In addition to Greenwell’s win, the Spencer County FFA chapter also won the National Dairy Cattle Evaluation Career Development event, which is the third time since 2006 that Spencer County has won this award.
