Oct. 21-27 is Kentucky Retired Teachers Week. The 106 retired teachers living in Spencer County give back to the community in a variety of ways. Last year, Kentucky’s retired teachers donated more than 704,000 volunteer hours valued at $12.6 million. Also, the pensions earned by retirees result in thousands in taxes for the county and profits for Spencer County businesses. Kentucky’s retired teachers have devoted their careers to the education and training of thousands of Kentucky’s youth.
