The Spencer County Lady Bears Volleyball extended their season Monday night with an opening round win over Bullitt Central in the 27th District Tournament.

The girls scored a 2-0 match advantage in beating Central 25-9 and 25-18. The girls advanced to take on Bullitt East in the District Championship on Tuesday evening.

The Lady Bears finished the regular season with a record of 10-16, which included a 2-0 win over Bardstown last Wednesday night in their home finale. Spencer County scored a 25-23 win in the first match, and then claimed the victory with a 25-17 win.

On Thursday, the girls traveled to Anderson County, where the dropped a tough 2-1 decision, winning the first game 25-23, then dropping the final two by identical scores of 25-19.

On Saturday, the girls traveled to Harrison County for a four game marathon where they went 1-3, beating Bracken County in two games, but losing to Deming in three, losing in a rematch with Bracken in two, and falling to host Harrison County.

Before their final home game against Bardstown last Wednesday night, the three senior members of the Lady Bears Volleyball team were honored, along with their parents. Pictured in the back row from left to right are seniors Samantha Elder, Alyssa Ruiz and Ashley Brown.
