Spencer County’s Josh Ferency takes a big swing for the Bears, who improved to 18-7 on the season by sweeping a double-header against Louisville Doss on Saturday. The boys had over a week between games because of rain and scheduling before they hit the diamond Saturday and took the first game 10-1 and then continued their dominance with a 10-0 shut-out in the second game. They currently have the third best record in the 8th Region and have given up the fewest runs of any regional foe. The Bears were scheduled to visit North Oldham on Monday and will host North Bullitt on Thursday at 5 p.m., Trimble County on Friday for their last home game at 5:30 p.m., and will travel to Doss to finish their regular season on Saturday at noon.
Spencer County’s Cadeja Hays catches a fly ball to right field during a recent game for the Spencer County Lady Bears. The softball team lost a 20-10 slugfest to visiting Collins last week and also dropped a 15-1 decision to Bullitt Central and a 10-0 shutout loss to Christian Academy of Louisville. On Saturday, the girls traveled to Jeffersontown for a tournament and played more competitively, but fell to Presentation 9-6, and 4-2 to Sacred Heart. The final week of the regular season will be a full one as they are slated to host Marion County on Tuesday, will be on the road at Shelby County on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., will visit Trimble County on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and will host Gallatin County on Friday at 6 p.m. before wrapping up the schedule at Nelson County on Saturday at 10 a.m.
