Monday morning the sanctuary of First Assembly of God Church was turned into the equivalent of Santa’s workshop.
Volunteers spent the morning packing gifts into boxes, wrapping them and then organizing them in the church pews. Gifts were donated by individuals, businesses and churches in the community and will meet the needs of 250 Spencer County children this holiday. Families turned in applications to Family Resource Center Coordinator Becky Wilson and Youth Service Center Coordinator Vonda Martin, who, with the help of the MPCAA and Jill Whitehouse, passed along the needs to First Assembly Pastor Chad Goodlett. Goodlett took care of divvying up the children’s needs and requests among donators and other community events like Shop with a Trooper and Sheriff’s Shining Stars. ‘Angels’ who did not participate in those programs will be picking up their gifts this week at the church.
