Pumpkin: The culinary jewel of the fall

Pumpkin squares are one of Marlene Stark’s favorite fall desserts. Her baby sister gave her the recipe many years ago. She does not know where her sister found the recipe, but knows that she often exchanged recipes with coworkers in Ohio.
Stark’s sister was 9 years younger than her. When Stark married at 17, her sister was still a child. Her sister often visited her in her new home in California and the two became close.
“She was special,” said Stark. “We hit it off good.”
