Rain hampers ball games

The ball fields were quiet the past week as rain washed out the bulk of the schedule for both boys baseball and girls softball at Spencer County High School.

In the lone game last week, the Bears dropped a 13-3 decision to Kentucky Country Day on the road last Thursday, as their seasonal record fell to 7-10.

The boys do have a full week scheduled and hopefully the weather will be more cooperative.

On Wednesday, the Bears are slated to travel to Washington County, on Thursday they have a double header against Valley and Atherton in Louisville and next Monday they travel to Henry County, followed by a game at Bardstown on Tuesday.

They will wrap up their regular season at home with two games next week, including a Thursday matchup against Bethlehem and will close the season by hosting Trimble County on Friday.

The Lady Bears softball team were not able to get any games in this week because of the weather, but were set to play Tuesday at home against Nelson County. They were also slated to host North Oldham today.

They’ll have a full schedule next week as they travel to Atherton on Monday, play a doubleheader at Bethlehem on Tuesday and then will host two games against Jeffersontown on Wednesday, before competing in a round robin tournament in Elizabethtown next weekend to end the regular season.

The Lady Bears stand at 5-9 on the year.
