Dr. Dan Bension at Salt River Veterinary Clinic wants the community to know that there is no need to drive far to find a full-service animal hospital and pet care facility because his office offers all those services and is located in the heart of downtown Taylorsville.

Bension opened his small and large animal practice at 246 Taylorsville Road in 2003. He, along with his veterinary technicians, offer an array of services such as soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, internal medicine and ultrasound, house call services, hospitalization, boarding, dentistry, preventative medicine, acupuncture, and free puppy and kitten wellness exams with vaccinations.

Bension said he knows there are still residents that aren’t aware that there is a full-service animal hospital in downtown Taylorsville.

“We can take care of a huge percentage of whatever needs to be done right here,” he said.

Bension has been practicing veterinary medicine for more than 17 years. He is a certified veterinary acupuncturist, which is a unique and effective alternative care method.

“Acupuncture is a big, wonderful tool that we can use especially on pets that with western medicine, if we’ve hit a wall with their care and we’re not getting where we need to, it works well,” Bension said. “We use it for pain management, arthritic trouble, and we use it in internal medicine cases as well.”

One satisfied dog owner said Dr. Bension’s acupuncture services provided a natural alternative when other methods left the dog listless or were ineffective.

“It has been a blessing,” she said, adding that after the first six or eight treatments, her dog was pain-free for two months. “We have had nothing but good results.”

Bension can serve both English and Spanish-speaking clients, and believes in treating animals and their owners with compassion and quality care.

“Our friendly staff and convenient location combine to create a family-like atmosphere, designed to make you and your pet feel at ease,” he said.

One pleased customer said she could not imagine taking her pets anywhere else.

“This place is great,” she said. “I have been bringing my pets here for years, and would never go anywhere else. When I lost my cat Scarlett after 17 years, I couldn’t have asked for more support than they gave me.”

Bension said his clinic’s boarding services have been very popular and he hopes in the future to expand that portion of his business.
