The Spencer County Board of Education could be heading in a new direction regarding a location for the new 600-student elementary school since its initial offer for property off of Ky. 44 has been rejected.
The board moved at its September meeting to bid $275,000 for 38.19 acres known as the Porter Property located 2.5 miles northeast of Ky. 55 and 44. According to a land study conducted for the district, the property is a mixture of pasture and woodlands, and was listed for $668,325 — $393,325 more than what was offered by the board.
