Public comment welcome

The proposed Comprehensive District Improvement Plan and the proposed Mission/Vision/and Belief Statements can be found on district website for public comment at www.spencer.ky12.ky.us.

Free college credit

The Shelby County Area Technology Center and Jefferson Community and Technical College – Shelby Campus are offering an informational meeting Thursday at 6 p.m. to find out how many free college credit hours your son or daughter has already earned in high school for college.

Juniors and seniors attending Shelby County ATC can earn free college credits in Information Technology, Business, Machine Tool, Health Sciences and Industrial Maintenance and Automotive.

The meeting will be held at the Jefferson Community and Technical College – Shelby Campus.For more information call Principal Susan Wiley at 633-6554.

Read Across America 2009

Elementary students in Spencer County will be joining children across the country in celebrating Read Across America 2009 and the birthday of one of the country’s most beloved children authors.

In 1957, Random House published The Cat in the Hat and those 236 words revolutionized the way children learn to read. Spencer County Education Association will be sponsoring a week of event in honor of Dr. Seuss and his literary accomplishments.

Students are encouraged to participate with the following events:

March 2 -  Fox in Sox Day - Wear crazy socks.

March 3 - Hunting for a Good Book - Wear camouflage clothing.

March 4 - Wearing of Wonderful Words, remember, clothing should have appropriate words only.

March 5 - Be a book fanatic! Show you’re a fan of reading by wear clothing that shows support for your favorite team .

March 6 - Cat in the Hat Day - Wear hats.
