Spencer County School District, along with the North Central District Health Department, will be offering the H1N1 influenza vaccine.

Consent forms for the vaccination have been sent home with students and were to be returned to school today.

The school district has not set a date for the administering of the vaccinations to potentially 2,000 students. The school’s messenger phone system will inform parents of the date selected.

Children under the age of nine are required to have two H1N1 doses 28 days apart. This event will only be administering the first dose. If a child has already had the first dose, or if a child is in need of the second dose, parents will be responsible for contacting their health care provider.

Children 10 and older do not need the second dose.
