Saturday, Spencer Countians will have a chance to honor their fellow citizens who have served or are serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Guard Duty, Inc., a local organization that honors veterans and active duty service members, is sponsoring the event, which begins with a community honor service at 10 a.m. The service will last an hour. This year’s guest speaker is Maj. Gen. William Barron, U.S. Army, retired.
Then, those who wish to join, will walk to the veterans memorial on Main Street (approximately two blocks from the church) where wreaths will be laid for each branch of service to honor deceased veterans. Following the honor of the deceased, a small reception is planned at First Baptist Church.
All veterans are invited to attend the event hosted by CWO4 Hobert Judd, U.S. Army, retired, and D.J. Atkinson-Fee. For more information, contact either Judd at 502-422-0386 or Atkinson-Fee at 502-442-5462.
