Spencer County senior baseball player Lance Shelton recently signed to play college baseball with Berea College.

Earlier this season Shelton pitched a no-hitter and his work in the classroom was also a contributing factor in Berea’s recruitment. Berea requires a 3.0 grade point average and a minimum score of 20 on the ACT, and Shelton met both requirements.
Todd Morris, assistant coach for Berea, said the school is excited about Lance joining the Mountaineers.
“He is a gifted young man, both on the field and in the classroom, who will be a valuable addition to this recruiting class,” Morris said.
He said Lance will be given the opportunity next fall to contribute both on the mound and as an infielder.
“He’s a skilled player that we think can make a smooth transition to the next level,” he said. “We hope that this will also open the door for us to sign more players from Spencer County in the future.”
