The Spencer County Celtics, a U10 boys team with the Spencer County Sports Association, won big at the 2010 Commonwealth Cup held in November. The Commonwealth Cup is a state sanctioned soccer tournament open to all teams throughout Kentucky vying for the number one team in the state honors. This season the championship trophy belongs to the Celtics along with head coach John Elder and Mike Brangers.

The Celtics won games against Fern Creek, Jessamine, Oldham, and Lexington teams to advance to the state championship game against the Oldham County Raiders. The Celtics handed the Raiders a 5-1 loss in the championship game and therefore claimed the top team honors in Kentucky for the fall 2010 season.

The boys play the game with total unselfishness, total commitment, unmatched passion, and with a desire that most envy. They are a very young team that will have a bright future in the world’s game.

The SCSA wishes to congratulate the players, parents, and coaches for an outstanding season and look forward to seeing everyone in the spring 2011 season.

Soccer sign ups are held throughout the month of February for the spring season. For more information please visit www.Spencercountysoccer.com.
