When it comes to health, there are many ways that people can take proper care of themselves. But, having the right doctors and physical therapists can help people make the right decisions for their own health.

“It’s your health. It’s your decision,” said Dr. Becky House, owner of Spencer County Physical Therapy.

House is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Specialist and together with Dr. Cara Nichols, PT, OCS and Physical Therapy Assistant Lisa Burchell they have a combined 3,000 hours of training. House is also highly recommended by doctors who send their patients there to complete their rehabilitation process.

Dr. Robert Goodin of Lousiville Orthopaedic Clinic and Sports Rehab Center says he sends numerous patients to SCPT.

“My patients have had excellent care and results,” he said. “I would highly recommend Becky and her staff to all my patients.”

House firmly believes in building community health and she donates her time and resources to the community.

“We offer free injury consultations to anyone in the community,” she said. “We try to get people in to be seen immediately if they need it.”

Free services also include Functional Movement Screen, which is used to identify faulty movement patterns that could lead to injuries, and an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) screen that is used to identify weaknesses in lower body control that can cause athletes to sustain an ACL tear.

A recent renovation at Spencer County Physical Therapy has opened up free space in the bright and cheery facility.

“It’s really the atmosphere you want for healing,” House said.

Recently, the SCPT therapists donated their time to provide free sports physicals to the local elementary, middle and high school athletes. SCPT also sponsors little league teams every year and donated the scoreboard for Spencer County High School’s football field and the scoreboard at Ray Jewell Memorial Park.

“I have been invested here for more than 15 years,” House said. “I believe in Spencer County and I believe in being a part of the community.”

House is always striving to stay current on the latest technology and equipment, and she offers many hard to find services, including Functional Dry Needling and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), which addresses knots and scar tissues.

“We also excel with dizziness problems, TMJ pain and headaches,” House said. “We set the patient on a holistic course of treatment. For TMJ, it would be restoring jaw mechanics, and getting everything aligned and feeling better.”

House said their treatment addresses the entire issue including the cervical and thoracic component, which can cause headaches and neck pain.

Dr. House built Spencer County Fitness Center, a fully equipped gym, next door to the Physical Therapy facility. Non-patients can also join the gym for a temporary or a discounted long-term membership.

House said she has enjoyed being the “hometown” Physical Therapy clinic in town for more than 15 years.

“We’re here to help and we will spend as much time as we need on each patient for them to get better,” she said.
