Strutters host Jakes event

The Salt River Strutters will be holding a Jakes Day event on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The event will be held at 298 Plum Creek Court, Taylorsville, Ky.  We will have a gun safety class, trap shoot, paint ball guns, archery, scavenger  hunt and prizes.  All children up to age 17 are welcome.  Come join us for a day of fun.  For more information call Keith Thomas at 477-5337 or 572-5555 or Nancy Thomas at 477-5862 or 210-1960.

 Become an outdoors woman Sept. 18-20

A special Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program is being offered Sept. 18-20 at Lake Cumberland. This special workshop, hosted by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, offers beginners and novices a terrific opportunity to learn more about enjoying the outdoors.

In addition to courses on rifle and shotgun shooting, the workshop offers classes on hunting, fishing, archery, canoeing, campfire cooking, tree identification, boating, wilderness survival, orienteering and more. Those brave at heart may even want to try the high ropes challenge. Experienced and understanding instructors lead every course.
