Superintendent clarifies confusion surrounding K-5 school supply lists

-A A +A

In response to confusion surrounding the Spencer County Board of Education's action issuing district-wide school supply lists for children in grades kindergarten-fifth grade, Superintendent Chuck Adams issued this statement:

Elementary School Parents:

In order to provide consistency while minimizing the burden on parents , the Spencer County Board of Education acted to approve a standardized supply list for both TES and SCES Monday night to serve as a guide for the future.  If you have already fulfilled a supply list request for the upcoming school year, your assistance is greatly appreciated and there is nothing more to do at this time.  If you have not, you may access the list on our website or from the Spencer Magnet.  Remember that many items on the list can be picked up for free at the annual Health Fair/Readifest on Saturday, July 27th from 9:00-11:30 at Spencer County Elementary School.  If you would like to provide additional supplies beyond the supply list, please feel free to speak with your child’s teacher, however, no one should feel obligated to do so.  Recognizing the financial difficulties encumbered by all, the Board of Education is committed to providing the students of Spencer County Schools an excellent education while decreasing the financial burden to the community we serve.  Thank you for your continued support of our students and our schools!
