Surveys, opinions and God’s word

-A A +A
By C.L. Glasscock

I want all Christian people to look at this survey. A survey of 1,000 protestant pastors conducted by an evangelical polling firm found that forty-seven percent agree that Islam is a very evil and wicked religion. However, such opinions may be confined mostly to the older generation.

Evangelicals under 30 believe that there are many ways to God not just through Jesus.

David Campbell, a professor at Notre Dame and co-author of  “American Grace: How Religion is Reshaping our Civil Political Lives”, with Harvard’s Bob Putnom conducted surveys showing that nearly two thirds of evangelicals under thirty-five believe non-Christians can go to heaven verses thirty nine percent of those over the age of sixty-five years. Evidently, these evangelicals have not accepted Jesus Christ and definitely do not know what the word of God says.

“For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believed in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the begotten Son of God.”  -John 3: 16-18.

“Let not your heart be troubled ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions. If it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you into myself, that where I am there ye may be also. And whether I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, ‘Lord we know not whether thou goest; and how can we know the way.’ Jesus saith unto him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father but by me.’” -John 14:1-6.

A lot of people call me an old-time preacher which makes me feel proud because they know I preach the word of God. If we as preachers lead people in half-truths or in a way that will send them to hell, their blood will be on our hands. I sure don’t want this to happen to me. This is the reason I come straight through.

“When I say unto the wicked, thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at thine hand.” -Ezekiel 3:18.

As we look at the survey, it makes me believe we have many preachers today who are not called by God to preach. One person told me some preachers are afraid to preach straight through because they were afraid they would make people mad and they would quit and then they would not get paid. If this is true may God help them!

“Whosoever, therefore shall be ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation: of him also shall the son of man be ashamed when he cometh in the glory of his father with the holy angels.” —Mark 8:38.
