A two-vehicle crash in Taylorsville on Friday afternoon sent one Spencer County woman to the hospital, according to police reports.

Juanita R. McKinley, 79, of the 5200 block of Bloomfield Road, was transported by Spencer County EMS to Flaget Hospital when she reported having chest pains after the accident, according to a collision report filed by Taylorsville Police Chief Toby Lewis.
The woman driving the other vehicle involved, Yolanda G. Sweatt, 51, of the 100 block of Cotton Lane, declined treatment for an abrasion from the airbag, the report says.
According to the report, McKinley was traveling north on Ky. 55 South in a 1993 gray  Buick Regal Custom near the intersection of Jefferson and Garrard streets. She attempted a lefthand turn onto Garrard in front of Sweatt’s vehicle, a 2010 green Ford Focus, which was traveling south on Ky. 55.
“[Sweatt] tried to swerve right to avoid, but the two still collided,” the report says.
Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the crash.
Human factors listed on the report are inattention and misjudging clearance. The estimated travel speed of McKinley’s vehicle was between 15 and 20 mph; the estimated speed of Sweatt’s vehicle was between 20 and 25 mph.
The Taylorsville Police Department, Spencer County EMS and Taylorsville-Spencer County Fire Department responded to the scene.
