A Taylorsville woman died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Bardstown Road, Hodgenville.

Amy C. Parks, 28, also known as Amy Smallwood, was driving a 2000 Ford Escort north on U.S. 31E, just south of Peak Road, when the vehicle crossed the centerline and struck another vehicle almost head-on.

Parks was “laying on the ground beside the car” when officers arrived, said LaRue County Sheriff Bobby Shoffner. However, he believes she was wearing a seatbelt and was not ejected from the vehicle.

The other driver, Jennifer Cissell, 22, of Bardstown, and her passenger, a 2-year-old girl, were transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown by Nelson County EMS. The child suffered a seatbelt burn and cut on the face, Shoffner said. He did not know the extent of Cissell’s injuries.

“It looked like neither vehicle had time to hit their brakes,” Shoffner said. “It happened quickly and was a hard impact.”

LaRue County EMS, LaRue County Fire Department, Rolling Fork Fire Department and the LaRue County coroner responded to the scene.

The roadway was closed about two hours.
