A Spencer County High School student was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by a minor Sept. 28.
The 17-year-old male, who’s name was withheld because he is a minor, was reported to police after school officials discovered he had a flask in his back pocket. Taylorsville Police Chief Toby Lewis said the container was about a third full of alcohol.
The discovery of pellets and CO2 cartridges in the student’s pockets led to a search of his vehicle by consent. In the student’s vehicle, Lewis found two BB rifles and two pellet pistols. Possession of such weapons on school property is a violation of Spencer County School policy and would be handled by the district, said Lewis. The student was taken to police headquarters and released to a parent.
