Taylorsville Police Chief Toby Lewis is cautioning parents to take a closer look at their children’s mail.
Recently a 15-year-old in the community was mailed a $3,800 check to work as a secret shopper. With the promise of earning $300, the “shopper” was instructed to deposit the check and send an international wire money transfer from Wal-Mart for $3,500.
Lewis said the business name on the check was legitamite, but the check and routing numbers were bogus. He said urged residents to call police if they receive a questionable offer.
