Texting while driving

Starting Jan. 1, 2011, Kentuckians can now be cited and fined $25 for texting while driving. Repeat offenders can be fined $50 plus court costs.
What are your thoughts about this new law? Will it be effective? Have you been affected by a driver who was sending text messages or using a phone while driving?

Texting while driving is very dangerous, and I think the fines are not serious enough. I wear my seat belt, and follow the laws, but someone who is so busy paying attention to a written conversation on their phone could cause me or someone else to be in an accident. Why is a text message worth someone's life? It isn't - and the fines and punishments should reflect the seriousness of the action.
