The annual Trick or Treat on Main Street event is scheduled for Halloween night, 5-8 p.m., in Taylorsville. Check out these tips and tricks for a safe and fun event!

• Main Street between Jefferson and Point Streets will be closed from 4:30 until 8:30 p.m. to allow for foot traffic only, but please note, the event runs from 5-8 p.m. Early or late trick or treaters will most likely miss out on the fun!

• Trick or Treat on Main Street is free to the community and is open to all ages. However, children should not be left unattended.

• Booths offering goods for profit, or with a political message, are discouraged.

• Businesses, organizations and tenants have first priority for setting up a candy station in front of their property. Anyone not owning property on Main Street wishing to distribute candy needs to obtain permission from a business, or set up on the sidewalk in front of a vacant storefront.

• Even though there have been no reports of candy tampering in past years, parents or guardians should check a child’s candy bag to make sure the pieces are securely wrapped and have no evidence of tampering. Unwrapped pieces of candy should be discarded.
