Taylorsville-Spencer County Fire Department responded to two minor structure fires over the weekend.
The first was located in the 4400 block of Plum Creek Road in Elk Creek. A call to 911 reported that a garage on the property was on fire. Firefighters arrived to discover a small electrical fire in the wall on one side of the building. The garage suffered minor cosmetic damage. No injuries were reported.
The second call was to a home at 460 McIntosh Drive. Firefighters arrived to discover fire and heavy smoke in the basement. The blaze was quickly extinguished and ventilation fans were set up to clear the house of smoke.
Chief Nathan Nation said that an electrical short in an aquarium was the cause of the fire. The home suffered minor fire and moderate smoke damage in the lower level. No injuries were reported.
