Waterfill attends Ladies Auxiliary National Convention

Kentucky’s President, Joyce Waterfill of Taylorsville, a member of Taylorsville #11426, led the state delegation of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) of the U.S. at the 96th national convention held August 15-20 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix AZ.

As leading representative of the state, she voiced the delegates’ votes during the election of national officers and played a key role in deciding the direction of the national organization for 2009-2010.

During the convention National President Dixie Hild commended the 3500 attendees for all their hard work in honoring veterans and supporting deployed military personnel and their families. Members have spent millions of dollars and volunteer hours helping the heroes of our country. The national president also thanked members for volunteering 1.5 million hours in the nation’s hospitals, raising $2,601,753 for the organization’s Cancer Aid and Research Fund, and donating $275,637 for Operation Uplink to provide long-distance telephone cards to troops and hospitalized veterans.
