Toys for Tots locations
Toys for Tots boxes are set up throughout Spencer County. New, unwrapped toys can be donated at the following locations: Elite Family Dentistry, Elmar’s BP, Peoples Bank at Elk Creek, Ransdell Dentistry, Dollar General Store at Elk Creek, Citizens Union Bank, Spencer County Recycling Center, O’Driscoll’s Spirits, Subway Shop, Dollar General Store, Anytime Fitness, Spencer County Library, Tea Cup, Knights of Columbus, Peoples Bank, Spencer Magnet, Taylorsville-Spencer County Fire Department, Spencer County Extension Service, Salt River Antique Power, Fiesta Brava, Settlers Trace Lakeside and Briar Ridge General Store.

Help police ‘cram the cruisers’
The Kentucky State Police, with the Taylorsville Police Department, is hosting its annual Cram the Cruisers food drive to benefit Spencer County families.
Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at The Spencer Magnet office, City Hall, the Taylorsville Police Department or Country Mart.
All food collected in Spencer County will benefit local families.
Collections are ongoing through Dec. 13.

Middle School PTSO to host Santa and gift wrapping days
Spencer County Middle School’s Parent Teacher Student Organization is hosting photos with Santa and holiday gift wrapping to help the school raise money for an announcer sign.
Photos with Santa will cost $10 and will be held in the school cafeteria Saturday from 5 until 8 p.m.
Holiday gift wrapping costs $20 and is for anyone who doesn’t have time or doesn’t like wrapping presents. The gift wrapping is scheduled for Saturday and Dec. 21 from 5-8 p.m. The PTSO will provide the paper and tape.

Democrats to meet Monday
The Spencer County Democrats will meet Monday at 6 p.m. in the Kentucky Farm Bureau’s community room. All registered Democrats are welcomed. For more information, contact Lil Clark at lmclark46@gmail.com.

Board of Elections to meet Dec. 19
The regular December meeting of the Spencer County Board of Elections will be Thursday, Dec. 19 at 8:30 am in the clerk’s office. This regular meeting has been rescheduled due to the Christmas holiday.

Circuit Clerk’s office announces Christmas, New Year’s closings
The Spencer County Circuit Clerk’s Office will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Wednesday, Dec. 25, in observance of the Christmas holiday. The office will reopen on Thursday, Dec. 26, at 7:30 am.
The clerk’s office will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 31, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, in observance of the New Year’s holiday. The office will reopen on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at 7:30 am.

Donations needed for Habitat silent auction
Spencer County Habitat for Humanity is soliciting donations for a silent auction to be held during the Valentine’s Spaghetti Dinner at the chamber building on Feb. 14, 2014. Call 477-2263 or email president@spencercountyhfh.com if interested in donating new or gently used, high end items for auction.

Donations needed for local family
The Spencer County Family Resource Center is seeking donations for a local family in need.
FRC Coordinator Becky Wilson said furniture items, including beds, as well as linens and other household items are needed.

Senior Center open Tuesdays, Thursdays
The Spencer County Multi-Purpose Community Action Agency Senior Life Enrichment Center, located at 44 Creekside Drive, is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for community members ages 60 and older. Lunch is served at 11:30. Reservations must be made by noon Tuesday for the following week. Call 477-8296 and ask for Jill or Connie for more information.
