Board of Elections to meet Dec. 19
The regular December meeting of the Spencer County Board of Elections will be Thursday at 8:30 a.m. in the clerk’s office. This regular meeting has been rescheduled due to the Christmas holiday.

Sheriff’s Office holiday hours
The Spencer County Sheriff’s Office will be closed Dec. 24 and 25 and also Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, 2014.
The office will be open on Saturday, Dec. 28, from 8 a.m. to noon and back to normal business hours on Jan. 2, 2014.

Spencer Magnet holiday hours and deadlines
The Spencer Magnet office will be closed Dec. 24 and Dec. 25 in observance of the Christmas holiday. The office will reopen Thursday, Dec. 26, at 9 a.m.
The advertising deadline for the Dec. 25 issue is Thursday, Dec. 19, at noon. The deadline to submit news items and announcements is Friday, Dec. 20, at noon.
The Magnet office will be closed Jan. 1, 2014, in observance of the New Year’s holiday. The office will reopen on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at 9 a.m.
The advertising deadline for the Jan. 1 issue is Thursday, Dec. 26, at noon. The deadline to submit news items and announcements is Friday, Dec. 20, at noon.

MPCAA to offer arthritis exercise program
MPCAA is offering an arthritis foundation exercise program at its senior center, 44 Creekside Drive in Taylorsville. This is a low-impact physical activity program to reduce pain and decrease stiffness.
The program will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. from Jan. 7 to Feb. 27, 2014.
Call 502-477-8296 to reserve a spot. The program is free to those 60 years of age or older. For those under 60, the class is $2 per one-hour class.

Donations needed for Habitat silent auction
Spencer County Habitat for Humanity is soliciting donations for a silent auction to be held during the Valentine’s Spaghetti Dinner at the chamber building on Feb. 14, 2014. Call 477-2263 or email president@spencercountyhfh.com if interested in donating new or gently used, high end items for auction.

Adult Ed offers college, GED prep classes
College and GED preparation classes are available at the Spencer County Adult Education Center, located at 406 Main Cross in Taylorsville.
Classes are offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings as well as Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Senior Center open Tuesdays, Thursdays
The Spencer County Multi-Purpose Community Action Agency Senior Life Enrichment Center, located at 44 Creekside Drive, is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for community members ages 60 and older. Lunch is served at 11:30. Reservations must be made by noon Tuesday for the following week. Call 477-8296 and ask for Jill or Connie for more information.
