KIPDA, library to offer help enrolling in health care
If you have questions about or need help enrolling for health care coverage, KIPDA will answer your questions and help you enroll in the plan that is right for you Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Spencer County Public Library.  Be prepared and bring your contact information, income, expenses, employer information along with your insurance and Social Security card.

Read with Jack the Reading Dog
Bring your child in to read with Jack the Reading Dog on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Spencer County Public Library. Children that read to pets improve their reading skills and gain confidence, event organizers said.

Country ham breakfast
Taylorsville Masonic Lodge #210 will host an all-you-can-eat country ham breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday. The breakfast is $7 per person. Carry-out is available. Everyone is welcome.
Red Cross hosts blood drive Dec. 10
First Baptist Church is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive Tuesday from 2-6 p.m. in the fellowship hall. The church is located at 115 W. Main Street in Taylorsville.

Help police ‘cram the cruisers’
The Kentucky State Police, with the Taylorsville Police Department, is hosting its annual Cram the Cruisers food drive to benefit Spencer County families.
Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at The Spencer Magnet office, City Hall, the Taylorsville Police Department or Country Mart.
All food collected in Spencer County will benefit local families.
Collections are ongoing through Dec. 13.

SCMS PTSO to host Santa, gift wrapping days to raise money for sign
Spencer County Middle School’s Parent Teacher Student Organization is hosting photos with Santa and holiday gift wrapping to help the school raise money for an announcer sign.
Photos with Santa will cost $10 and will be held in the school cafeteria Dec. 14 from 5 until 8 p.m.
Holiday gift wrapping costs $20 and is for anyone who doesn’t have time or doesn’t like wrapping presents. The gift wrapping is scheduled for Dec. 14 and Dec. 21 from 5-8 p.m. The PTSO will provide the paper and tape.

Board of Elections to meet Dec. 19
The regular December meeting of the Spencer County Board of Elections will be Thursday, Dec. 19 at 8:30 am in the clerk’s office. This regular meeting has been rescheduled due to the Christmas holiday.

Donations needed for Habitat silent auction
Spencer County Habitat for Humanity is soliciting donations for a silent auction to be held during the Valentine’s Spaghetti Dinner at the chamber building on Feb. 14, 2014. Call 477-2263 or email president@spencercountyhfh.com if interested in donating new or gently used, high end items for auction.

Adult Ed offers college, GED prep classes
College and GED preparation classes are available at the Spencer County Adult Education Center, located at 406 Main Cross in Taylorsville. Classes are offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings as well as Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Call 502-477-3265 for more information or to get enrolled.
