Friends of NRA to host banquet
Five counties will join together Saturday for the Friends of NRA Banquet at the Claudia Sanders Dinner House in Shelbyville.
Doors open at 5 p.m.
Tickets are $35 and can be purchased by visiting www.friendsofnra.org.
Proceeds will go to Kentucky shooting sports programs.

Spencer County Historical and Genealogical Society to meet
The Spencer County Historical and Genealogical Society will meet Monday at 7 p.m. at the Spencer County Library. Those interested in learning more about Spencer County’s history and tracing their family trees are welcome to attend.

Habitat accepting applications for partner family
Spencer County Habitat for Humanity is accepting applications for a new partner family.  To receive an application, call 477-2263 and leave a message or email president@spencercountyhfh.com. The application deadline is Sept. 13.

Taylorsville High School Class of 1963 reunion
Taylorsville High School Class of 1963 is hosting its 50-year class reunion on Sept. 20 at the Chamber of Commerce building.

Join the Waterford Homemakers
The Waterford Homemakers would like to invite women in the community to consider becoming a part of the group, which meets the third Wednesday of the month. The homemakers enjoy fellowship, day trips and are involved in numerous community projects.
The group meets at the Spencer County Extension Service and is led by president Judy Broyles. Broyles can be reached at 477-8890.
The next meeting is Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. at the extension office on Oak Tree Way.

The Taylorsville High School class of 1973 reunion
Taylorsville High School Class of 1973 is hosting its 40-year class reunion on Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. at Mordecai’s on Main in Springfield.

Spencer County Habitat for Humanity is accepting donations for a yard sale. The community is asked to help in this fundraising effort by donating slightly used “treasures.”  No clothes will be accepted. Adult Ed offers college, GED prep classes
College and GED preparation classes are available at the Spencer County Adult Education Center, located at 406 Main Cross in Taylorsville.
Classes are offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings as well as Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Senior Center open Tuesdays, Thursdays
The Spencer County Multi-Purpose Community Action Agency Senior Life Enrichment Center, located at 44 Creekside Drive, is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for community members ages 60 and older. Lunch is served at 11:30. Reservations must be made by noon Tuesday for the following week. Call 477-8296 and ask for Ginger for more information.

CCA to host instructional basketball league for children in K-12
Cornerstone Christian Academy is hosting a fall instructional basketball league during the month of September beginning Saturday, Sept. 7, and ending Saturday, Sept. 28, for a total of four Saturdays.
The league will be led by Chris Armstrong and current Cornerstone Christian Coach Jason Bradshaw. Each week there will be a different college coach to speak and help lead the camp.
The morning session is from 9 a.m. to noon and is for children in kindergarden through fifth grade.
The afternoon session is for children in sixth through 12th grade.
The camp is for both girls and boys. The cost is $65 if paid and registered by Aug. 31. The cost is $75 after Aug. 31.
Each session is limited to the first 75 campers who sign up. Early registration is recommended to guarantee a spot. Forms can be downloaded by going to Cornerstone’s website http://www.ccaofky.org/.
