MPCAA board to meet
Multi-Purpose Community Action Agency’s Board of Directors will meet on Monday, Jan. 28, at 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Spencer County Fiscal Court Room located in Taylorsville. The public is invited to attend. Multi-Purpose CAA provides services in Bullitt, Shelby and Spencer counties.

PVA news for homeowners age 65+ or on total disability
Are you 65 years of age or over? Homeowners age 65 or over may be eligible to receive the homestead exemption if they reside in the home. This may reduce your real estate assessment on which your property tax bill is based.
Are you receiving total disability payments? Homeowners who receive benefits for total disability may be entitled to receive a reduction in their real estate assessment on which your property tax bill is based.

Relay for Life to host team captain’s meeting Tuesday
The next Spencer County Relay for Life Team Captain’s meeting is Jan. 15, 6:30 p.m., at Taylorsville United Methodist Church on Main Street. There are already 12 teams registered, and the 2013 goal is for at least 25 teams to participate. For additional information, contact Samantha Tanner at sams-relay@baehrsden.com

Tea Party to meet
The Spencer County Tea Party will meet Thursday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m., at the Kentucky Farm Bureau Building, 695 Taylorsville Road, next to Dairy Queen.  Gun control and other constitutional issues of immediate concern will be on the agenda.

Magnet announces new deadlines
Beginning the week of Jan. 7, The Spencer Magnet will enforce new editorial and advertising deadlines.
Community and people submissions must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday for consideration of publication in the following week’s edition.
Advertisements must be placed by noon on Fridays for the following week’s edition.
