Registration for the following Spencer County Fair Pageants has been extended to Sunday, July 20, 2014.

Columbus
chicken dinner
The Knights of Columbus–All Saints Council in Taylorsville invites you to their all-you-can-eat chicken dinner on July 20th from Noon until 2:00 p.m. at All Saints Church on Main Cross in Taylorsville. They feature broasted chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, butter noodles, and all kinds of desserts. They have their dinner the 3rd Sunday of each month at the same time. Drink and dessert are included. Prices range from $9.00 for adult, $8.00 for seniors, $4.50 for children 4-12, and children 3 and under are free. 8 piece boxes of chicken to go are also available for $10.00. Proceeds go to the All Saints Council of the Knights of Columbus to fund their charitable work.

Allen Dennis Memorial
scramble set
The annual Allen Dennis Memorial Golf Scramble will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9 at Tanglewood Golf Course in Taylorsville. Benefits from the scramble will go to the Allen Dennis Scholarship Fund, named for a young man who drowned in 2001.
The fee for the scramble is $50 per player or $200 per team. The scramble will feature a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

MPCAA to offer arthritis exercise program
Multi-Purpose Community Action Agency is now Offering an Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program at its senior center located at 44 Creekside Drive in Taylorsville. This program is a low-impact physical activity program proven to reduce pain and decrease stiffness.
The routines include gentle range-of-motion exercises that are suitable for every fitness level. Program will be offered each Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. now through August 7.

The program is free for any person 60 and older and small nominal fee for anyone under 60 of $2 per 1 hour class.

Motorcycle road skills testing to resume
Motorcycle road skills testing will resume this month. The location for the testing is Waterford Park on Highway 44 five miles west of Taylorsville. If on the day of testing you are unsure about the testing due to weather conditions, the examiner will have made a decision by 9:30 a.m. You may call the Circuit Clerk’s office at 502-477-3220 to find out his decision. There will be no make up days for inclement weather.
Be prepared to spend at least fifteen minutes for the actual skills test and allow an hour for the entire process. Before the test is given, Kentucky state law requires you to have a helmet, current proof of insurance, and that your motorcycle equipment is working properly. There are no exceptions.
Motorcycle road test dates and times are as follows:
Friday, June 27, 9 – 11 a.m.
Thursday, Aug. 28, 2 – 3:30 p.m.

July Tea Parties to benefit the historical society
A series of July Tea Parties at The Red Scooter Antique Mall on Main Street will be hosted, with proceeds going to the Spencer County Historical and Genealogical society for the preservation of a historic building in Taylorsville
The teas will be held from 2-4 p.m. each Saturday and menus will vary from week to week. Sweets and savories will be provided, as well as various teas.
Programs will be presented on the history of tea, tea samplings, a tea cup exchange and a true English tea for each of the tea times.
Tickets are $20 and proceeds will benefit the historical society.
Reservations are recommended and can be made at the Red Scooter.

Open house at the middle school
Spencer County Middle School will be hosting its open house for sixth graders Aug. 11 from 6-7:30 p.m. and Aug. 7 for seventh and eighth graders from 6-7:30 p.m.
