Country ham breakfast
Taylorsville Masonic Lodge #210 will have an all-you-can-eat country ham breakfast from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday. The breakfast is $7 per person. Carry-out is available. Everyone is welcome.

Allen Dennis
Memorial
golf scramble
set for Aug. 9
The annual Allen Dennis Memorial Golf Scramble will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9 at Tanglewood Golf Course in Taylorsville. Benefits from the scramble will go to the Allen Dennis Scholarship Fund, named for a young man who drowned in 2001.
The fee for the scramble is $50 per player or $200 per team. The scramble will feature a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
Players can register by sending a check to John Shouse, 1273 Denney Drive, Lawrenceburg, Ky. 40342. Registrations can also be made over the phone by calling Shouse at 502-517-2576, Don Dennis at 502-410-8910 or Keith Stinnett at 502-664-0469.

Ruritan Club
to participate in Fourth of July parade
The Mount Eden Ruritan Club will be participating in a Fourth of July parade Friday. The parade will begin in Harrisonville at 10 a.m. and will arrive in Mount Eden at approximately 11:30 before heading out towards Shelbyville along Ky. 44/53. All are invited to attend.

Free public tours at Lake Corps
of Engineers’
Historic
Interpretive Area
The historic Ashes Creek Schoolhouse and Yates Log Cabin at the Taylorsville Lake Corps of Engineers’ Historic Interpretive Area by the Corps Visitor Center will be open for free public tours on July 4, 5, and 6 from noon to 5 p.m. each day.

Main Street
to host ice cream social
The Historic Taylorsville Main Street program is hosting an ice cream social at 206 Main Cross July 12 to thank everyone who has supported Main Street events throughout the year. Anyone who volunteered or supported Main Street events is invited to attend. Main Street plans to partner with the Spencer County Historical Society to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of rebuilding after the fire of 1913.

The Spencer County GOP will meet on Monday, July 7th at the Farm Bureau Community Meeting Room. The meeting will begin with dinner at 6:30 pm followed by the Business meeting at 7:00 pm. Please call 477-0258 or 612-845-0573 if you have any questions.

The Spencer County Democrats will host a potluck dinner for its candidates July 7 at the Fish and Game Club on Ky. 44 at 6 p.m. Participants are asked to bring a dish and RSVP to Lil Clark, Jill Herndon or Susan Arnold. All registered democrats are invited to attend.

Magnet to close and have early deadlines for July 4 holiday
The Spencer Magnet will have early deadlines for its Wednesday, July 9 edition due to the July 4 holiday. The deadline for all ads including yard sales, classifieds and ROP ads will be at noon on Thursday, July 3. The deadline for news submissions, including letters to the editor, will be at noon on Monday, July 7.
The Spencer Magnet office will be closed July 4 in observance of Independence Day.

MPCAA to offer arthritis exercise program
Multi-Purpose Community Action Agency is now offering an Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program at its senior center located at 44 Creekside Drive in Taylorsville.
This program is a low-impact physical activity program proven to reduce pain and decrease stiffness.
The routines include gentle range-of-motion exercises that are suitable for every fitness level.
The program will be offered each Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. now through Aug. 7.

The program is free for any person 60 and older and small nominal fee for anyone under 60 of $2 per 1 hour class.

Motorcycle road skills testing
to resume
Motorcycle road skills testing will resume this month. The location for the testing is Waterford Park on Highway 44 five miles west of Taylorsville. If on the day of testing you are unsure about the testing due to weather conditions, the examiner will have made a decision by 9:30 a.m. You may call the Circuit Clerk’s office at 502-477-3220 to find out his decision. There will be no make up days for inclement weather.
Be prepared to spend at least fifteen minutes for the actual skills test and allow an hour for the entire process. Before the test is given, Kentucky state law requires you to have a helmet, current proof of insurance, and that your motorcycle equipment is working properly. There are no exceptions.
Motorcycle road test dates and times are as follows:
Friday, June 27, 9 – 11 a.m.
Thursday, Aug. 28, 2 – 3:30 p.m.

Summer litter abatement drive begins
The Summer Roadside Litter Abatement Drive began June 23. Sign in at the Planning and Zoning office, 220 Main Cross St., Taylorsville. Roads will be assigned and equipment furnished, with guidelines for the Drive. This event is for non-profit groups only. Middle school cross country team hosting try outs
The Spencer County Middle School Cross Country team is hosting try outs at the school off Ky. 44 behind Spencer County Elementary School July 7-11.
