Extension building committee to meet
The building committee of the Spencer County Cooperative Extension District Board will meet Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Extension office located at 100 Oak Tree Way.

Circuit Clerk’s office to close early on Good Friday
The Spencer County Circuit Clerk’s Office will close at 11 a.m. on Friday in observance of Good Friday and Easter.

County Clerk’s office announces holiday hours
The Spencer County Clerk’s Office will close at noon on Friday due to state holiday guidelines.

Mount Eden Ruritan plans fish fry
The Mount Eden Ruritan Club will host its annual fish fry on Friday at 5 p.m. at the Ruritan Club building.
The meal will include fish, slaw, baked beans, potato wedges, dessert and drink for $10.

Dancing with the Stars is April 12
The Spencer County High School Dance Team and FFA are again teaming up for Dancing with the Stars April 12. Volunteers are needed to dance and anyone interested should contact Sherri Boatright at sherri.boatright@spencer.kyschools.us or 502-298-2500.

Proceeds will jointly benefit the FFA and the dance team.

Tryouts set for third-grade basketball tournament team
Tryouts are scheduled for third-graders interested in participating on a third-grade basketball tournament team throughout the summer. Tryouts will be Monday, April 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Spencer County Elementary gymnasium.

Earth Day celebration planned in Shelbyville
Red Orchard Park in Shelbyville will host an Earth Day celebration on April 20 at 10 a.m.
The event includes kid crafts, critters, bugs, pone and wagon rides, a geocache trail, free paper shredding and e-cycling.
“Ye Merrie Melodious Dulcimers” will provide live music, and the Miller Outdoor Education Center will be open as well.

Adult Ed offers college, GED prep classes
College and GED preparation classes are available at the Spencer County Adult Education Program, located at 406 Main Cross in Taylorsville.
Classes are offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings as well as Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

PVA news for homeowners age 65+ or on total disability
Are you 65 years of age or over? Homeowners age 65 or over may be eligible to receive the homestead exemption if they reside in the home. This may reduce your real estate assessment on which your property tax bill is based. Are you receiving total disability payments? Homeowners who receive benefits for total disability may be entitled to receive a reduction in their real estate assessment on which your property tax bill is based.
