VFW fish fry

The VFW Post 11426 and Ladies Auxiliary will be having a fish fry Friday from 11 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. at 106 Washington Street. You may eat in or carry out. We will deliver in town (only) for carry out orders. You may call 502-296-4603 to place your order.

Help Decorate Main Street for

the Holidays

Bring your family and help decorate and spruce up Main Street for Christmas! Join us this year as we spruce up the town, mulch, weed and plant more trees around the community! Meet at the Courthouse Saturday for coffee and hot chocolate at 8 a.m.

Lunch will be served by The Tea Cup at noon. Bring your tools. For more information call 477-3246.

Mt. Eden Fire District Board of

Trustees Meeting

The regular meeting of the Mt. Eden Fire Protection District Board of Trustees will be held as scheduled on December 1, at 6 p.m. at 13726 Mt. Eden Rd, in Mt. Eden instead of at Station 1 located at 260 Van Buren Road.

Spencer County

Extension Council Meeting

Residents are welcome to attend the next Spencer County Extension Council Meeting tomorrow at 6 p.m. at the extension office. The council will be deciding on a parcel of land to purchase for the new Extension Office to be built. Find out how this will impact the people of Spencer County and how they can benefit.

Chamber of Commerce Meeting

The next Spencer County Chamber of Commerce meeting will be tomorrow at 6 p.m. School Superintendent Chuck Adams will be the guest speaker, On The Way Café will Cater the event. Please r.s.v.p. by calling 477-8369.

County Clerk’s office closed Nov. 18

The Spencer County Clerk’s office will be closed Tuesday for staff training.

Christmas on Main Street

Santa in Fiscal Court room from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, December 12. Horse/buggy rides, live nativity scene, face painting, christmas caroling, train rides from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Music in the Chamber building from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Lighting of Christmas tree by Mayor Don Pay and Judge David Jenkins at 6:30 p.m.

Santa goes to the Chamber building to help with prize giveaways at 8 p.m. The first 200 children that register with Santa will receive candy and a ticket for free hot dog, chips and drink which they can receive in the Chamber building and their name will be put in for gift drawings. Concessions will also be available in the Chamber building for anyone else who may need a snack.

Christmas tree contest and auction

Help the Main Street renovation project by donating a decorated Christmas tree, wreath or table center piece to be auctioned this season. Get those creative ideas flowing and make sure entries are completed by the December 5 deadline. Decorative pieces will be displayed at the Sanctuary Arts Center, located on Main Street, December 6 - 12. During that time, a silent auction will take place. A live auction will be held Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. All proceeds will go toward the Main Street renovation. Call Laurita at 477-5552 for more details.

Christmas Open House at the Red Scooter

Try some of our secret holiday punch along with sweet treats. Get a picture with Santa, December 6, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for $5. For more details stop by the Red Scooter or call Beverly at 477-6608.

Live music

The Sanctuary Arts Center will be feature two nights of live music this December 12 and 13. Look back later for further details.

Christmas Home Tour

Come enjoy some of Spencer County’s most beautiful properties all decked out for the holidays during the Christmas Home Tour. This year, the tour will be held December 6, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Guests are encouraged to begin the tour with an open house at the Red Scooter and end with treats and live music at the Sanctuary Arts Center. Tickets will be $15 and can be purchased at the Red Scooter.

Shop with a cop

The Spencer County Sheriff’s office is now accepting donations for our Shop With a Cop program. Donations can be made to any sheriff’s deputy or at the sheriff’s office on Main Street. All proceeds go directly to help needy children in the community. Any donation amount will be accepted.

Open call for artists

Sanctuary Arts Center invites local and regional artists to display for Christmas shopping.

With the economy, job losses and uncertainty, people are looking for a sense of community and heartfelt, unique, interesting and affordable gifts for Christmas. Artist and craftspeople are looking for now limited selling opportunities.

The Sanctuary Arts Center would like to invite local artists and craftspeople to display and sell their work thru the holiday shopping season. This community has some of the most amazing talent - musicians, artists, basket weavers, quilters, gourd growers, jelly makers - the list is endless. The community also has several really wonderful holiday events coming up. This could be an opportunity for those who sell at seasonal shows to have some winter sales.

Gingerbread House Contest

Y-art sale

The Sanctuary Art Center will be hosting a Y-art sale through Christmas. All of us go through phases. For those that would like to sell their past phases, we will accept collectible prints or original art for sale. One person’s old Pat Day print is someone else’s new find.

Items will be displayed and sold on commission. If any artists, craftspeople, whitlers, jelly makers and phase people, would like to display their items, please call 354-0404. We would like to have items in before Thanksgiving however will continue to add as space allows. Space is limited. P.S. We are also looking for a line dance teacher.
