To celebrate Arbor Day, the Spencer County Conservation District will again be giving away free tree seedlings. A limited number of seedlings will be offered. The seedlings will be given out Thursday and Friday while quantities last. The seedling packs contain one each of Flowering Dogwood, Redbud, Pecan, Pin Oak, and White Pine. The public may pick up the seedlings and planting instructions, free of charge, on a first come first served basis from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Conservation District office is located at 118 Taylorsville Road next to the public library.
Taylorsville VFW Post #11426 and the Ladies Auxiliary have their monthly meeting the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.
Circuit Clerk’s office holiday closing
The Spencer County Circuit Court Clerk’s office will be closed from 11 a.m. Friday until 7:30 a.m. Monday for the Easter holiday. The office will also be closed April 25 during Carnival for a Cure.

The Spencer County Clerk’s office will close at 11:30 a.m. Friday and remain closed until 8 a.m. Monday in observance of Good Friday and Easter. The office will also be closed on April 25 due to the Carnival for a Cure to be held in downtown Taylorsville. The Carnival will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The office will resume regular hours April 27.
Book sale at Library
The Spencer County Public Library, located at 168 Taylorsville Road, is having a huge book sale. Paperbacks are $.10, hardback books are $.50, VHS tapes are $1, and books on tape are $1. For more information please call 477-8137
Spencer Idol talent show
Are you talented enough to be the next Spencer Idol? Students in Spencer County can audition for the Spencer Idol talent show to be held April 23, 2009, at 7 p.m. at the Spencer County Middle School auditorium, with all proceeds going toward Project Graduation for the class of 2009.
Do you sing, dance, act, play an instrument? They want you audition to be part of the show. There is a $5 audition fee. Auditions will be held at the high school on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. To schedule your audition time please call Belinda Shindlebower at 477-6074 or Michele Barlow at 738-9755. The top 20 students will receive the yellow ticket to advance to the next level and will perform in from of actual judges. Paula, Randy and Simon will also be on hand to offer up their comments. Cash prizes are as follows: $50 first place, $30 second place, and $20 third place.
Knights Kafé Lenten fish fry
Lenten Friday night fish fry will be held every Friday through Lent from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at All Saints Catholic Church. Menu items available will be fish, shrimp, frog legs, onion rings, macaroni & cheese, coleslaw, baked beans, home-made desserts and assorted beverages. Carry out will be available. All proceeds will go to charitable works in our community by the Knights of Columbus. All Saints Catholic Church is located at 410 Main Cross St.
Project Graduation bake sale and car wash
Spencer County High School seniors and their families will be having a Bake Sale and Car Wash at Country Mart on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. All proceeds will go to Project Graduation. come out and support the safety of our kids and our community.

Spencer County Business
The Spencer County Business Association (SCBA) meets the first and third Wednesdays of every month at 9 a.m. The next meeting will be April 15 at On The Way Café. All Spencer County businesses are invited to attend.
Weather siren testing
Spencer County Emergency Management would like to remind residents that the emergency weather sirens will be tested at noon the third Wednesday of each month. If the siren sounds at any other time, it is to provide residents warning of a tornado spotted in the area.
The Chamber of Commerce luncheon meeting will be held April 16 at the Chamber building.
