Preschool screenings set
Spencer County Preschool is hosting early childhood screenings on Friday from 1 to 7 p.m.
The early childhood screening is for all Spencer County children 3 and 4 years of age. The screening will assess the areas of hearing, cognitive skills, speech/language, self-help adaptive skills, socialization and/or motor development.
If your child will be 4 before Oct.1, he/she may be income eligible for preschool even if he/she was previously screened as a 3 year old and was not eligible.
Early childhood screenings will be the only scheduled preschool screenings prior to the start of the 2012/2013 school year.
The early childhood screening is by appointment only.  Please call the Spencer County Preschool at 502-477-3210 to set up an appointment or for additional information.

Ham breakfast at Masonic Lodge
this Saturday
Taylorsville Masonic Lodge #210 will be having an all-you-can-eat country ham breakfast from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m.  Saturday. The breakfast is $7 per person. Carry-out is available. Everyone is welcome.

Football association looking
for coaches for three teams
The Spencer County Youth Football Association is holding elections for the head coach position for the Mighty Mite, Junior Varsity and Varsity teams for the 2012 Spencer County Stallions season. Anyone interested should send a letter of intention to run by Sunday to Chris Hutt, chutt@payneelectric.com.

Event to benefit Gladys Waldridge
An event to benefit Gladys Waldridge will be May 12 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Shear Happiness Salon, 448 Old Seven Mile Pike, Shelbyville.
Events include hair cuts, yard sale, bake sale and a silent auction.
Waldridge has cancer and has just finished radiation. She and her husband have three children at home. All the proceeds will go to the family.

Habitat accepting donations
for May 19 yard sale
In preparation of its May 19 yard sale fundraiser, Spencer County Habitat for Humanity is accepting any and all donations, with the exception of clothing.
If you have items to donate, please leave a message at the Habitat for Humanity office 502-477-2263 or email president@spencercountyhfh.com and someone will contact you regarding arrangements for drop off or pick up.

MPCAA board to meet
Multi-Purpose Community Action Agency’s Board of Directors will meet on Monday, May 21, at 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Spencer County Fiscal Court Room located in Taylorsville.
The public is invited to attend.
Multi-Purpose CAA provides services in Bullitt, Shelby and Spencer counties.

Habitat for Humanity hosts golf scramble
The Spencer County Habitat for Humanity chapter is hosting its annual golf scramble at Tanglewood Golf Course June 2. Registration is at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The event will include door prizes and a catered lunch.

Proceeds from the scramble will directly benefit the local chapter.

EMS to offer CPR classes
Spencer County Emergency Medical Services now will offer CPR and First Aid Certification Classes.
“We have certified instructors and would love to provide this class to private individuals, churches, businesses, daycares, school employees, nursing students and groups of all sizes,” EMS Director Jeff Coulter said. “Our goal is to help as many Spencer County citizens become CPR certified as possible.”
