It was between 461 million and 444 million years ago, during the late Ordovician (Or-do-vish-in) period of Earth’s history, that a cataclysmic event apparently occurred in what is now southeastern Shelby County, Ky.
Of course there was no Shelby County then, no Spencer County, no Kentucky, no United States and no people - just some primitive fish and other ocean organisms beginning to appear.
